NOTE: According to records in the George Ironside Papers in the Detroit Public Library, a Post Office was arranged in 1853 for "Shebahonaning" Ontario with Robert Johnstone as Postmaster but he refused the job when the opening date arrived and returned the paraphernalia, which was later supplied to the office "Killarney" which was opened on the same location on 1 June 1854 (this information from a letter from the President, Manitoulin Historical Society dated 8 January 1956). |
